“The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppress the stranger. So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 20:29-31 NKJV).
As a rule, the spiritual world controls the physical world. The unseen rules the seen. God spoke to Ezekiel about the state of a nation. The nation had become vile and the wrath of the Almighty had come upon them.
However, the LORD gave a powerful key concerning why His wrath was not stayed but was expressed against this vile nation. He said there was no intercessor. He couldn’t find a person dedicated to praying over the Land. He couldn’t find people who would stand in the gap, in intercession legislating spiritual realities over the territory. Therefore, evil came over the land. Intercession over a land is what aligns the territory to the will of God. This is what brings the kingdom of God to a place.
In 1 Timothy 2:2, we see this great mystery expounded by Paul:
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
Intercessors provide spiritual leadership. They are spiritual leaders. They determine spiritual realities that would manifest in a place on Earth. They control what happens at a place. They rule territories with the scepter of intercession.
We lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness by intercession for the territories we find ourselves. We are the ones to pray peace, godliness and reverence into places. Yes! We pray them upon the places for them to manifest physically in those places. Therefore, when we see a lack of peace, godliness and reverence for authority in place, there are no intercessors actively providing spiritual leadership according to God’s word.
It is my prayer that the Most High God through the ministry of His Holy Spirit would grant you grace to rise with the scepter of intercession to rule and establish God’s will in your territory. Shalom, shalom.
